     As your case progresses in the circuit court, the circuit court may enter several nonfinal orders in regard to various disputes arising in the case.  There is no appeal of right from such nonfinal orders in the circuit court.  Under usual circumstances, a nonfinal order may be appealed with the permission of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.  Before permission is granted, it is necessary to file a petition for leave to appeal.

     Once your case is fully resolved in the circuit court via a final order or judgment, the result can be appealed by either side as a matter of right to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.  After a decision is reached in the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, there is no right of appeal to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.  Instead, it is necessary to petition the Wisconsin Supreme Court for review of any decision of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.  Permission is rarely granted.  Most decisions in Wisconsin personal injury cases are not reviewable by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Lawyers are, of course, expected to participate in CLE programs to keep up-to-date on developments in the law. Members of Bye, Goff & Rohde, Ltd. are focused on going farther, by staying on the cutting edge of trial practice and strategy, charting national trends and strategies in litigation, and closely tracking relevant changes in the law.

Although licensed drivers are generally aware of the danger winter conditions pose on the roads, only the exercise of extra caution and careful driving matched to the weather conditions can help ensure safety.  Drivers must proceed slowly, in rested and undistracted condition.  Unnecessary trips should be avoided until roads have been cleared of ice and snow.

Tragic loss of life is the unfortunate reminder of the danger of winter driving.
